Guidelines for assisting in Bethel's Recycling Program

Here are the basic duties we are asking for you to do when it is your assigned time:

1. Check the four recycling bins on a periodic basis.  This can be done whenever you are at church.  They are located in the fellowship hall, church office, education wing 1st floor, and student center.

2. As the bins fill up, please take the bag of recycling out of them.  Replace it with a new bag (located in the custodian supply closet in the hallway).  We will use the same 60 gallon black trash bags that the regular trashcans use.

3. Take the bag(s) of recycling to one of these local centers:

Senior Citizens Organization

18336 Cumberland Road, Noblesville (across from NHS)

The recycling facility is located behind the main building.  It is open 24 hours a day, and the bag of mixed recycling can be placed inside the building.  When I spoke with the center, they said that if you want to sort the items into the appropriate bins, they would appreciate it, but if not, they have volunteers that will sort them.

Hamilton Hazardous Waste Facility

1717 Pleasant Street, Noblesville (across from the Post Office)

Glass, plastic and metal can all be mixed together, and placed in the appropriate container.  Their hours are Mon.-Wed. 8:00AM-4:00PM, Thur. 11:30AM-7:00PM, Fri. 7:00AM-3:00PM, and the 2nd and 4th Sat. 8:00-11:00AM.

We anticipate that you will probably empty the bins twice during your assigned month.  Remember, if they are not full, do not feel like you have to empty them at all.  We would rather the bins be semi-full when they are emptied (as long as you can manage the size/weight of the bags), instead of simply empting them out on a set schedule.  This will save on the number of trash bags we use.

This program is just one of many ways we can be better stewards of God’s creation.  If you have any problems, suggestions, comments or new ideas, please talk with me as soon as possible.

Thank you for your service in this area!  Happy Recycling!
